Time for a Change: A Dual Diagnosis Resource for the LEW

This is a free event designed for the LEW working in public mental health in Victoria (eg. consumer lived experience staff employed at Area Mental Health Services, Forensicare or mental health staff from RCH).

LEW workers outside of public clinical services (MHCSSs, AOD, ACCHOs etc.) or other partner organisations may also attend.

Note: this session has been developed by LEW with Dual Diagnosis Clinician input.

This workshop has been designed for the Lived Experience Workforce with the intention of enabling them to support people they work with who have co-occurring mental health and substance use issues.  The topics and skills delivered in this workshop have been aligned to be consistent with the Intentional Peer Support Framework.

Presenters:

Henrique Van-Dunem

Henrique has significant experience in developing and delivery training to consumers, carers and clinicians, including advance clinicians training in Dual Diagnosis and Recovery.Henrique pioneered some of the first consumer-led groups on in-patient units. He has a Diploma of Community Development from RMIT University.

His key interests include dual diagnosis, music therapy, consumer peer work and relations, mentoring and training of other workers, and improving understanding and cooperation between consumers, clinicians and carers. Henrique is passionate about leadership and leading change for recovery.

Brendan Pearl

Brendan is a Senior Dual Diagnosis Clinician with SUMMIT Dual Diagnosis Service based across North Western mental health.

Carlotta Martiniello

Carlotta is a social worker employed in public mental health. She is a carer for family members who live with mental illness and used to work in as a carer peer support worker.
